[IC Information]
Character Name: Franziska von Karma
Series: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Gender: female
Age: 19
Species: human
Sexuality: I really don't know, but I think it depends on who can actually get close to her and who she thinks she can use. However, it is assumed straight for the moment.
Appearance:
Franziska von Karma has straight silver-gray hair, the same color as her father's that falls to roughly around chin-length, though it's varied in the back. Her eyes are a very pale gray in color, blending into the white part of her eyes and her silver hair. Her skin is pale, also matching her hair and eyes. She wears a white dress shirt with puffy shoulders, tight sleeves, and large wrist cuffs. Each cuff sports two square snaps, aquamarine in color, on either side. Black gloves cover her hands, probably for protection from wielding her whip. The cravat at her neck is rather large and shows off a large jewel of the same aquamarine color. The white dress shirt is covered by a sleeveless black vest that falls down past her hips, has yellow trim, and two diamond-shaped aquamarine snaps. A black skirt completes it, falling just barely to mid-thigh. Black hose covers her legs, giving them the appearance of being brown in color, and her feet are adorned by black ankle boots with thin heels.
Personality:
Franziska was raised to be perfect and considers this her passion and goal in life. She was taught that von Karmas are always perfect and to be less than means you are not worthy of the name. She lives by this creed, considering it more dear to her than anything. When she suffered her first defeat, she refused to consider it legitimate because that would be admitting that she was not perfect, something she could not, and would not, do. At the end of Justice For All, Franziska had admitted her defeat, and thus no longer felt she deserved to carry on the name of von Karma.
Being her father's daughter was difficult, but she took pride in it, following in his footsteps as soon as she could. However, even if she wouldn't admit this until years later, she always felt as though she walked in the shadow of her adopted brother, Miles Edgeworth, that no matter what she did, he would do it better. So she vowed she would take him down, and that was what brought her to America originally to face Phoenix Wright. If she could defeat that defense lawyer, the one Miles had never been able to take down, then she would rise above her brother. It was the only way she saw of finally being better than everyone else.
Franziska takes everything seriously. She's not a joker, particularly when it comes to being perfect. However, particularly in the courtroom, she can be agonizingly brilliant. As much as she denies being as brilliant as her father, she is good at finding loopholes in logic and twisting them around to her own needs. She is also not afraid to do a little twisting, hemming, and hawing to get the evidence to say what she wants it to say, and is far from being above hiding evidence or the importance of such. Perfection is everything, ethics be damned.
Her obsession with perfection also lends itself to her strength and willpower. Franziska is very strong and unafraid to take chances. She doesn't take consequences into consideration, particularly since she is more than capable of talking herself out of a situation. However, if someone gets on her bad side even once, she will not hesitated to bring vengeance down upon them, usually in the form of the whip she carries everywhere. If she's even the slightest bit irritated, someone will feel its sting.
Abilities: Franziska doesn't possess any supernatural abilities, but her greatest ability is her brilliance. She doesn't consider herself to be as smart as her father was, but when she's in a pinch, particularly in court, she can talk herself out of it. She can also use the smallest and most subtle of hints to find the loopholes, particularly in the courtroom. She also has an extremely good memory, being able to recall the smallest of details from each case and retain them even after the case is over if she so chooses. She's got a good poker face, only showing the emotions she wants you to see from her. Franziska is very strong in mind, and once she sets herself to doing something, she won't stop until it's accomplished, never giving up on her claims or her perfection until she literally watches it fly away from her. Even then, she will fight to the bitter end. She is very rarely intimidated and is used to doing the intimidating, whipping any she finds useless or foolish, which is most everyone she meets. She also has extremely good aim with her whip.
Weaknesses: Despite her strength of mind and will, Franziska has a softer side and a good number of weaknesses. Perhaps her most obvious is her utter hatred for losing cases and her perfection. She cannot abide by someone who is not perfect and when she finally came to grips with the fact that she'd lost to Phoenix Wright, it nearly destroyed her. She has an obsession with beating him and thus she was unable, and unwilling, to accept that he had indeed defeated her until the very end of Justice For All. She gets flustered and visibly upset when someone manages to prove a point against her that she cannot refute.
Another of her weaknesses is the man she considers her brother, Miles Edgeworth. Even as much as she despises him for being older than she is and having gone into the same field that she did, she does care for him like a sister should. She's jealous of him in a way, jealous that he's not allowing her to follow her father alone and that he's the shadow she has followed. Despite that, if anything were to happen to him, she would worry over it, though anyone who suspected that would be hard pressed to prove it.
She also has a very, very low tolerance of "fools" as she puts it. She cannot deal with those who don't live up to usefulness or aren't perfect. Anyone who knows her can judge their worth and the worth of those Franziska meets by the number of times she smacks them with her whip. It's usually a good indictor of her mood as well.

History:
Franziska von Karma was born in Germany, the daughter of Manfred von Karma, and was raised to be a ruthless prosecutor, valuing perfection above all else. She was instilled with an enormous sense of pride from this as well, which was something she clung to throughout her life. At the age of 13, she became a prosecutor in Germany, where she carried on her father's legacy and held a perfect win record until her arrival in America. This happened when she was 19, after her father was convicted of murdering Gregory Edgeworth, the real father of Miles Edgeworth, her adopted brother. Even with her father gone, Franziska vowed to keep her perfect win record, as a way to keep the von Karma name, and her own pride, clean.
When she first met Phoenix Wright, she wanted to take him down in order to prove her own worth in America, prove that she wasn't walking in Miles' shadow, that she was her own person even if she was Manfred von Karma's daughter and a prodigy at that. She also had in mind to punish him for what he had done to Miles. Much as she claimed she disliked her adopted brother, she did care for him.
The first time Phoenix Wright bested her in court, she refused to acknowledge her defeat, telling Phoenix that it wasn't a true win for him. She would face him in several other cases and a few she would even go so far as to help him with. Phoenix never quite figured out why she did so, but the reason was quite simple. Franziska wanted to him down in court herself and would do anything to provide the opportunity for Phoenix to take down any who opposed him in her place, including her own brother.
Directly preceeding the trial of Matt Engarde, Franziska was shot in the right shoulder, causing her to miss out on yet another chance to squash Phoenix Wright under her heel. She did, however, cooperate with Phoenix so that he could have the chance to win the case, even going so far as to find Gumshoe and bring his evidence to court, where she presented it to the judge. This evidence would turn the trial upside down. Afterwards, she began to question her place as a prosecutor with her lack of a perfect score. She even told Miles that she was going back to Germany and quitting her career as a prosecutor. He said a few things that opened her eyes, though she refused to admit it. He is, and always will be, the only person to ever make her cry.
So they flew back to Germany for a year, where Franziska continued her duty as a prosecutor. A year later, Miles was called back to America suddenly, where he would later call her back to prosecute a case. She expected to have one last chance to crush Phoenix Wright, but was instead offered the chance to humble her "littler brother." She took the offered chance, fooling the judge presiding over the case in an attempt to show Miles what being a von Karma was about.
She only prosecuted that one day, but she spent the rest of the time helping Phoenix with his investigation so he could be the victor over Prosecutor Godot. Phoenix triumphed in that case and Franziska was invited to a celebration dinner at Tres Bien. After that, she returned to the airport, intending to go home. She fell asleep on the plane and woke up in Manhattan.
